Christmas in Marpole Village '09

JAN 2010 — The Marpole Cares campaign raised food, clothing and toys for our needy families in Marpole this past Christmas. Special thanks to Marpole Branch Library, RBC, TD Bank, VanCity, Marpole Oakridge Family Place and the Lord's Peace Chapel. Photos to come.

DEC 2009 — The holidays are a special time of year for everyone.

The Marpole Business Association is continuing with the tradition of celebrating the holidays with our fifth annual Christmas in Marpole Village.

This event is a month-long celebration of the holidays in Marpole, one which will involve the entire community. This event will add to the festive holiday atmosphere created by the MBA in Marpole over the past few years. Festive Christmas street banners are on display. Christmas lights on the street trees and new lights on the lamp-posts; Christmas trees planted in the decorative flower pots; Santa & strolling carolers - all will contribute to a beautiful, holiday-inspired environment.

Please join in on some of the activities outlined below, and help make the holidays brighter for all of us! Our best wishes to you and yours for a wonderful and prosperous holiday season!

Santa Stroll

Santa Claus will make a special appearance in Marpole on Saturday, December 19th!
Between 12 noon and 2 PM, Santa will stroll Granville Street, stopping in shops and handing out
candy canes. He may also take gift requests, but only if you’ve been nice!

Holiday Caroling

The MBA will be arranging for some festive holiday caroling along Granville St. on all the Saturdays in December, including on December 19th. The carolers may pop into your business - please make them feel warm & welcome!

Marpole Cares

The Marpole BIA is very pleased to be partnering with Marpole Oakridge Family Place & Lord’s Peace Chapel to help local needy families and children this holiday season.

Everyone is encouraged to drop off a new, unwrapped toy, warm clothing, or non-perishable food item to one of these locations: Royal Bank, VanCity, TD Bank & Marpole Library

Other Festive Touches

Window & Building Facade Light Up

The MBA encourages business and property owners to join their neighbours in outlining their shop windows and building facades and rooftops with Christmas lights. This adds to the festive atmosphere in the area during the holidays.

More LED Lights in Marpole!

The Marpole BIA is pleased to announce the installation of more large-bulb, C9 warm-white LED light strings on the poles in the 7900 and 8600 blocks of Granville St. Each light standard in these gateway blocks will now have 100 LED lights shining in warm welcome to everyone
entering Marpole this holiday season!

All of the seasonal lighting in Marpole - whether in the street trees or on the light standards - will be kept on until the end of March 2010, covering the Chinese New Year and Olympic and Paralympic celebrations.
