The Great Marpole Trick-or-Treat

Spooky success - Great Marpole Trick-or-Treat

DEC 2009 — The seventh annual Great Marpole Trick-or-Treat proved very popular again this year with merchants and children alike. The desire for treats, combined with Halloween falling on a Saturday and some dry weather, made for a street full of costumed children going door-to-door to participating merchants displaying the now well-known orange pumpkin decal. More than 60 participating businesses recorded bigger crowds than last year, and that the candy ran out early. Thanks to those merchants who posted the pumpkin decal and participated in this very popular community event.

OCT 2009 - Dress up in your best Halloween costume, spot the orange pumpkin decal and trick-or-treat at participating local Marpole merchants along Granville Street!

The fifth annual Great Marpole Trick-or-Treat will take place on Halloween Day - Saturday, October 31, 2009 from 4 - 5 PM.

Orange pumpkin decals will once again be distributed to participating merchants one week prior to the event. The decals show local trick-or-treaters that they can safely obtain candy and treats from participating Marpole merchants.

Merchants: Watch for your decal and more details in early October!

About The Great Marpole Trick-or-Treat

Participating merchants will be given posters advertising the event, as well as an orange, pumpkin static-cling decal, to be displayed in a highly-visible place - on business doors or windows. By putting up the decal, participating merchants agree to "trick-or-treat" with those community children in costume on Halloween day, between the hours of 4:00 and 5:00 PM. (Please note: Merchants are responsible for providing & handing out their own candy for the trick-or-treating.)

Merchants are also encouraged to get into the spirit of Halloween by donning a costume of their choice for the event. This event is a fun and safe community-building promotion that is done in the spirit of the Halloween holiday! The MBA will be advertising the Great Marpole-Trick-or-Treat through local schools & community centres, and in the Vancouver Courier newspaper.

Please display the posters and pumpkin decals as soon you receive them. PLEASE NOTE: The pumpkin decals will be picked up by the MBA during the week following the event. Please do not throw the decals away!
