Vancouver South Rotary Club - working hard in Marpole

The Vancouver South Rotary Club has been meeting weekly in Marpole since 1947, when it gathered together at the local White Spot restaurant, with Nat Bailey as the first President.

The goal of Rotary is to give service in the local community.

From this beginning, Vancouver South Rotarians have worked over the years within the community to organize events such as a boat show and to build structures, such as a community park with gardens, benches, tables and a small stage at David Lloyd George Community School.

Last year Rotarians, teachers and students replanted countless new bulbs to maintain the annual show of spring blossoms at this park.

In recent times, Vancouver South Rotarians continued to build and maintain new community facilities, such as a mini-park of garden boxes and benches at the Safeway parking lot.

They continue to support the community of David Lloyd George school by providing a variety of books for their reading programs for students.

Gardening at the Rotary Park at Marpole Safeway They also sell Christmas trees to assist Aunt Leah Society who, in turn, works with disadvantaged youth.

Every Christmas season, the Rotarians supply and install the beautiful Christmas decorations on Abbeyfield House – a local senior citizens residence.

These examples are but a few of the ways Rotarians are supporting the community of Marpole.

This dynamic Rotary club is open to new members that live or work in the community!

They meet weekly for a Tuesday lunch. For more information, please contact Brian Cawley at 604-731-1191.
